Military Health Systems Research Symposium (MHSRS)

Kissimmee, FL || August 26-29, 2024

The Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) is the Department of Defense’s leading scientific conference focused on addressing the unique medical needs of military personnel. This annual event brings together around 4,000 participants, including military medical care providers, researchers, academics, international partners, and industry professionals, to collaborate on health care initiatives related to combat casualty care, operational medicine, rehabilitation, infectious diseases, and more.

At the annual MHSRS meeting, Ethan Moyer announced the release of the TBI Navigator during a platform presentation in the “Casualty Care During Multi-Domain Operations, Large Scale Combat Operations, and Prolonged Care” session. The TBI Navigator is a mobile app designed to help medical teams assess and manage traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in prehospital and/or prolonged care environments. This app guides users through established TBI protocols (GCS, TMACE, and more), generating reports that can be shared in real time. The full official version is available on iOS and Android!

ICM+ 20th Anniversary Workshop

Cambridge, UK || September 1, 2024

The day before the start of the International Neurotrauma Society (INTS) annual meeting, the Brain Physics Lab at Cambridge University hosted an advanced neuromonitoring workshop integrating the Moberg Cloud Platform and ICM+. The workshop covered everything from data acquisition and curation to advanced analysis.

Peter Smielewski and Marek Czosnyka (Brain Physics Lab) opened up the workshop with an overview and history of the system.

International Neurotrauma Society (INTS) Annual Meeting

Cambridge, UK || September 2–5, 2024

This year was the 16th annual meeting of the International Neurotrauma Society (INTS), held in the beautiful city of Cambridge. The meeting covered a diverse range of topics, including mild, moderate, and severe brain injury with several specific topics relating to novel scientific therapies, clinical management, brain physics, brain chemistry, and imaging.

Burning Man

Black Rock Desert, NV || August 25 – September 2, 2024

Burning Man is an annual event in the Nevada Black Rock Desert that fosters community, creativity, and self-expression, often described as a temporary city dedicated to art and radical self-reliance. Neuroscientifically, the immersive experience and collaborative atmosphere can enhance social bonding, stimulate creativity, and promote altered states of consciousness, offering unique insights into the brain’s response to communal and artistic engagement.

Hosting Florian Van Leeuwen

Philadelphia, PA || August 2024

We had the privilege of hosting Florian van Leeuwen in Philadelphia over the month of August thanks to our partnership with KU Leuven and SOPRANI. We enjoyed getting to know him, learning about his work back in Utrecht, and showing him around the area.

Florian is currently pursuing a PhD in Statistics at Utrecht University, focusing on prediction models for many different types of complex datasets, but he has specific interest in applying these models to cases of brain injury. So, at Moberg Analytics, Florian has been collaborating on assessing the performance of intracranial pressure forecasting models, focusing on the use of a pre-trained transformer model for physiological time series data.

“It has been a wonderful experience to see the bridge that brings knowledge from academia into practice and the passionate people driving the field of multimodal monitoring forward,” Florian said.
