2nd Annual Chicago Neurotrauma Symposium
Penetrating Brain Injury – Establishing Priorities
Chicago, IL (U.S.) || September 20 – 21, 2024
Ethan Moyer and Dick Moberg visited the University of Chicago to attend the 2nd Neurotrauma Symposium on Penetrating Brain Injury. We’d like to thank the University of Chicago for hosting such an insightful two-day meeting on their beautiful suburban campus.

Our friend Dr. Ramon Diaz-Arrastia presenting a talk on blood-based biomarkers and endotypes… we mean endophenotypes.

A rare photo taken down West Washington Street by Millenium Park. The sun perfectly aligns with these buildings for only two days every year.
Mind Your Brain
Philadelphia, PA (U.S.) || September 26, 2024
Mind Your Brain is a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI). Partnered with TBI-focused medical centers and hospitals, their programs provide education, advocacy, support, and research to enhance the quality of life for patients, survivors, families, and caregivers.
Moberg Analytics was honored to receive an invitation to the Mind Your Brain September Soirée event. We spent the evening catching up with many old friends as well as making some new ones!

SOPRANI Meeting
Leuven, Belgium || October 8–11, 2024
The Smart neurOmonitoring to support PRecision medicine in Acute central Nervous Injury (SOPRANI) is a European project to train and guide 10 doctoral candidates in 10 individual research projects that are intended to substantially advance the field of neuromonitoring in patients with acute brain injury in neurointensive care. The project is highly relevant to our mission. Moberg Analytics was honored to be invited to participate in the project as the only U.S. organization. We will talk more about this project in upcoming issues of the newsletter. In October, Dick traveled to Leuven, Belgium for the first official meeting of the project that included the newly selected PhD students. Bart Depreitere, the overall PI, arranged an exciting team-building exercise where we all got together to cook a meal. I’m sure you will recognize some of the “chefs”.

Enjoying the food we cooked. And, nobody got sick from the salad Dick made. What a relief!

NCS Annual Meeting
22nd Meeting of the Neurocritical Care Society
San Diego, CA (U.S.) || October 14–17, 2024
In October, we attended the Neurocritical Care Society meeting in San Diego, where we gave out our new company t-shirts. As always, it was wonderful to see many of our friends at this meeting, hang out in bars with them, and attend some off-site events. We heard some interesting talks on AI as well as brain monitoring. We attended the SIREN event for investigators as we are managing data for many of their projects.
Our booth may not be state-of-the-art, but our ideas and products are. From left to right: Craig Maddux, Dick Moberg, Ethan Moyer, and Tobias Hamann.

Dr. Stefan Wolf, a neurosurgeon from Berlin and long-time friend, modeling our new company shirts. The theme has been around for 30+ years, but still fits.
Dr. Raimund Helbok speaking at a tribute meeting for Dr. Stephan Mayer, who trained many of the leading “believers” in multimodal monitoring and has served as a guiding light for industry. Thanks to Alex Choi and Emily Gilmore for organizing the event!
NCS held a gala reception on board the USS Midway aircraft carrier, which was a real treat.
Aboard the Midway, we ran into the new president of NCS, Susan Yeager (left), and Dr. Lori Shutter, a longtime collaborator.
Ethan just can’t stop working. Clearly his mind works much faster than the baggage claim at the San Diego airport.
CARNet 2024
13th Annual Meeting of the Cerebrovascular Research Network
Québec City, Canada || October 29–31, 2024
Ethan Moyer traveled to Québec City in Canada to attend the 13th International Meeting of the Cerebrovascular Research Network (CARNet 2024). Here, he was able to meet many students, researchers, and clinicians who share a similar unfazed love for neurophysiology. Below are some of the highlights.

The CARNet Bingo Card. A Kahoot was used as the tie breaker. Ethan came nowhere close to winning.
