ANIM 2024
ANIM
Kassel, Germany || February 1-3, 2024
ANIM stands for Arbeitstagung NeuroIntensivMedizin, best said after a few beers. This is the German version of the Neurocritical Care Society meeting and, in fact, the NCS held a satellite meeting at the event. It was held in Kassel, known for the Brothers Grimm Museum (of Grimm’s Fairy Tales fame) among other things. Most years the meeting is mostly in German, but it remains one of my favorites due to the international attendees and, yes, the beer.
The graffiti in Kassel made me homesick for Philadelphia. Fellow travelers were Ethan Moyer and Kayleigh Kenny, a former intern who presented a poster at the meeting.
The ANIM 2024 venue was in the stately conference center in Kassel.
We were pleased to spend some time with Julian during the conference.
Ethan Moyer having an intimate conversation with a pupillometer.
Julian Bösel, the conference organizer, kicks off the meeting.
At our stand with Tobias Hamann (NeuroVisio, well-known to European neuromonitoring enthusiasts).
Kayleigh did a great job presenting her poster on the gap in Common Data Elements needed for neuromonitoring.
We spent time with Jeanette Tas, a young, talented neurocritical care doc who I predict will become one of the Queens of Neuromonitoring in the future.
Stephan Mayer provides a hilarious 10-year update on progress to develop a tricorder for the brain. We were honored to be mentioned in his talk.
DaiWai Olson (shoeless, as always) presented an amazing keynote on nursing, outcomes, and the meaning of R and r.
